Iron Chef UK
Has anyone seen this show yet? I have downloaded the first episode, but I haven’t watched it yet. I will put that first episode up for download if there is any interest in seeing it. (I don’t plan to put up any other episodes of the series, but I thought people might be curious.)
UPDATE: I’m three minutes into the episode, and I can already tell I will not be able to watch it. It’s definitely patterned after Iron Chef America as opposed to Iron Chef. If you want to see it, I’ll put it up, but I don’t think it’s a show for me. (I should probably give it more than 3 minutes to impress me, but it’s just so painful to watch!)

Wow, a tuthead sighting. Since you’re now reviewing other RnT-related shows, does this mean that more RnT posts are imminent???
Answers on a postcard, please…..

Keith, please DO NOT post that episode. “Iron Chef U.K.,” because from what I saw of it on Channel 4’s website, is a gigantic load not worthy of our attention.

I made a quick day trip home. I happened to see ICUK on the site where i get my British TV shows. I grabbed it, but I couldn’t get through the first few minutes. I am due back home for good in two weeks. It looks like the next RnT episode posts will be the first week of June. Sorry.
And much like I posted the first episode from Fine Living with the atrocious music, I feel like people need to see this monstrosity to appreciate the greatness we have in the original program.

RE: Tuthead comment #3:
Well, I won’t download it, that’s for sure. ICUK is just a plain, simple, load of felgercarb.

I have actually sat through an entire episode on YouTube, believe it or not. When I heard Olly Smith say, “Hello! I’m Olly Smith, and welcome to Kitchen Stadium!” I knew we were going to be in for a rough ride. He’s even more irritating than some of the airheaded actresses who appeared on the original. They’ve also butchered the format terribly–I think it’s a bit distracting to hear cooking still going on during the judging of the starters.
And don’t even get me started on the Chairman (one Eizo Tomita, apparently). I can’t even understand half of what he’s saying! And his theme ingredient announcements are cringe-worthy, even more so than Chairman Mark’s on ICA.

I have all 15 episodes thus far, but didn’t get past the promo of episode 1. Why all 15? request from someone else, otherwise it’s just a waste of drive space.
Nick Nairn must be really desperate to get back onto UK television.

Iron Chef Japan – The original and the best.

This show is too funny. I started out watching Iron Chef America, then when I saw this site, I realized how much better the original is. This UK show is a joke, sheesh, talk about a few huge steps backward.

@ic_ishinabe
YOU. THANK YOU. I’ve been trying to figure out who was playing the UK Chairman for forever.

There is one messiah.
There is one cheeseburger.
There is one Iron Chef.
Let the others burn.

I agree that it’s a step backward. For many reasons:
– Both ICJ and ICA highlight the challenger chef much better
– This is more a MasterChef competition that true Iron Chef (preliminaries to finals)
– I wasn’t getting a sense of the British Iron Chefs being characters in their own right
On the plus side, commentator/play-by-play is more reminiscent of ICJ than Alton Brown doing everything

Well, I’d like to see it, but it appears I’m the only one. It didn’t sound very good, I am just curious. I guess I’m a heretic, as I watch ICA, but I agree ICJ is much better. I’m slowly working my way through the posted episodes.
