We all know that there were a lot of battles in Kitchen Stadium involving out of this world/expensive theme ingredients . But we tend to forget that some theme ingredients were everyday foods like fruits. For this week Fruit Theme, we have added an episode that few people have seen, the banana battle.
- Chocolate and Apple (305) – Iron Chef Sakai versus Fuyuko Kondo
- Chocolate and Pear (407) – Iron Chef Sakai versus Seiji Yanagi
- Mango (615) – Iron Chef Kobe versus Yousei Watanabe (He’s the only chef specialized in mexican cuisine to have appeared on the show.)
- Banana (706) – Iron Chef Kobe versus Hironobu Tsujiguchi**

Thank you DoomTurtle. I tried to put a title screen on the video with a note of thanks, but I screwed up the audio sync and I didn’t have time to redo it. I hope to fix that and re-up the episode, but until then, we want to make sure everyone knows to thank you for giving us this episode.

There was also a pineapple battle (Iron Chef Chen vs Shunji Morikawa), no? I saw the episode on Stage6, so maybe it wasn’t transferred here yet…

Fruit was used more than 10 times as a theme ingredient, so there will be a few more fruit themed Episodes of the Week posts in the future. The pineapple battle (#420) is one that we do have and will have up here eventually.

The potato battle (#232) is one that we do have, but it has not been added to the database yet. You can check to see which battles we have by looking at our Full Series Episode List. Any episode number that is blue is one that will eventually be added to the database.
